Record lows in temperature. Salt stains on your fabulous boots. Static cling on just about everything. I usually do quite love the winter, but this year has been a bit trying on some days! So it made me think about how to make the best out of this bloody coldness, and how to dress when having to be in & out of the outside frigid air. Gathering some inspiration from the street style during New York Fashion Week, here were some looks that were inspiring and made outwear just a bit more happy to look or even put together from our own closets:
The Winter Blues
A beautiful blue oversized coat looks like the sky peeking through the clouds, which is nothing short of divine on a cold winter day. Play it up classic black, denim for a monochromatic look, or layer with other colors just because you can. The best thing, this graceful color transfers into spring easily & effortlessly.
Black + Winter White
Now that we are out of the Dark Ages (pun intended), even our grandmothers are supportive of us wearing white all year long. There is nothing more elegant & sophisticated than a creamy white statement coat. Paired it with a black trouser, black bootie or heel, neutral (print or solid) handbag, and a fabulously practical black hat. 3 words: CHIC, CHIC, CHIC!
Tangerine, emerald, lime, aquamarine…I mean you couldn’t have a sad day in these colors even if you tried! Color is the best way to emote a mood, be festive, or simply treat you and others some visual eye candy. Feeling timid? Pair it black or beige. Dare to be bold? Accessorize with complimenting statement colors, like a handbag, shoe, or hat.
