Let us all take advice from our perfume collection…
Not everyone will like you, yet those who do will always have you near or will always remember you.
Easier said than done, not to worry what other people think of you. Something that should be so simple, yet is the very thing that can hinder us from being our authentic selves.
Life coaches, self help recourses, or any other personal guidances are great, but sometimes they can come with a big price tag or they can unconsciously dig a little too deep into your mind that, frankly, isn’t necessary (I’ve been there. Not fun. And can make it awkward to open to that person in the future).
And that is where perfume comes in. When we wear fragrances that we enjoy, it doesn’t matter what other people think. Yes of course, be respectful in airplanes, and be sensible (pun intended) at work of what the fragrance emotes. But if someone doesn’t care for it, that’s on them, not you. And if you feel beautiful, powerful, elegant, flirty, whatever it may be.. then go for it. Because when you feel great and your perfume BF has your
back neck, wrist, back of knees, hair, bathed in (sorry not sorry, my inner coquette can’t help herself), watch out world!
Playful, provocative, nostalgic, innocent, adventurous, relaxed, artsy, bold… just a fraction of ways to describe a mood. But what it may be, there’s always a scent to match.
If you’re feeling a bit melancholic or down, going simple & light with fragrance can help lift your spirits. If it’s the mundane that needs a kick, spice up your scent- you’d be surprised how it’ll shake things up around you.
A secret can be as quiet as a subtle citrus, or one simple spritz of a mysterious oud. Just because a scent is strong doesn’t always mean it’s loud.
And just because a fragrance is crisp & light, spraying a heavy dose will let everyone know the ‘fresh bomb’ you are! So even if you’re shy by nature, your perfume can be your wingman and do the talking, or whispering, or do the shouting for you.
Therapeutic scents don’t have always have to be essential oil based. And it’s just as appropriate to wear a lavender based oil out for cocktails.
Lets take it further, wearing rose absolute can be very effective with depression or anxiety, while it also can make one feel elegant and ultra feminine. Also, a sandalwood base note perfume is lovely, woodsy & grounded while also is used to treat coughs as a natural expectorant (having mild asthma, I will be taking note of this!).
There aren’t materialistic things in life that we keep returning to year after year, after year… But when you do find that fragrance, she will become reliably all of the above.
As the golden rule states, be good to others… You never know, your signature scent can impact someone. They may even spritz it onto themselves if they’re in need of a little bit of you around them at a time they most need it.
As you may have noticed, this article is really not about perfume, fragrances…. it’s about self discovery, self awareness, an self care. I purposely did not attach any links to specific perfumes, simply because it is your journey to find which works for you! It’s
impossible extremely rare when someone gifts us with perfume and nails it. Faintly in the backgrounds are my personal favorites for each category, but truly I encourage you to discover what works best for you- but be daring, the perfume will tell you if she’s right for you.
And most importantly, don’t worry about what others think, ‘cos at the end of the day, she cares most about you.
